The Land of Eternal Youth (or Land of the Ever-Young) is the most popular of the Otherworlds in Irish Mythology. Tír na nÓg was considered a place beyond the edges of the map, located on an Island far to the West. It could be reached by either an arduous voyage or an invitation from one of its Fairy residents. This Otherworld is a place where sickness and death do not exist. It is a place of Eternal Youth and Beauty. Here, Music, Strength, Life and all pleasurable pursuits come together in a single place.

Poet, singer and songwriter from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Van plays a variety of instruments, including the Guitar, Harmonica, Keyboards, Drums, and Saxophone. His characteristic growl — a unique mix of throaty Folk, Blues, Irish, Scat, and Celtic influences — Morrison is widely considered one of the most unusual and influential vocalists in the history of Rock and Roll.

Famed critic Greil Marcus has gone so far as to say that

Known as "Van the Man" by his fans, Morrison first rose to prominence as the lead singer of the Northern Irish band, "Them", penning their seminal 1964 hit "Gloria". A few years later, Morrison left the band for a successful solo career. Morrison has pursued an idiosyncratic musical path. Much of his music is tightly structured around the conventions of American soul and R&B, such as the popular singles "Brown Eyed Girl", "Moondance", "Domino" and "Wild Night". An equal part of his catalogue consists of lengthy, loosely connected, Spiritually inspired musical journeys that show the influence of Celtic Tradition, Jazz, and stream-of-consciousness narrative, such as his classic album "Astral Weeks" and lesser known works such as "Veedon Fleece" and "Common One". The two strains together are sometimes referred to as "Celtic Soul"~

Once upon a time...

Beaver Island, Michigan was "The Only Kingdom in the United States"

James Jesse Strang formed a colony of Mormons on Beaver Island in 1848 and was crowned King in 1850. However, many members of his church became disgruntled and on June 20, 1856, Strang was gunned down in front of the general store and died several weeks later. The Mormons had excluded gentiles from the Island's endless bounty, but were soon forced out and Irish fishermen began to arrive.

~They came from Gull Island, Mackinac Island, and County Donegal in Ireland. Once they settled in, they wrote to their families and friends about "America's Emerald Isle"~

Of the 881 residents in 1880, there were 141 "Gallaghers", 123 "Boyles", and 90 "O'Donnells" recorded in the census. Many of the Island's residents decend from those early settlers and continue to honor their proud Irish hertitage.

~Beaver Island is the largest island in Lake Michigan and is 14 miles long, three-to-six miles wide, with the more densely settled area (which is still not very dense) in St. James Township on the northern end of the island. Peaine Township, in the southern part of the island, is mostly undeveloped. The island has a year-round population of about 600.~
